ICWSM and AAAI are pleased to announce the availability of a small fund to help support student travel to ICWSM-12 in Dublin, Ireland. ICWSM-12 student grants provide modest travel support for students who are full-time undergraduate or graduate students at colleges and universities; are members of AAAI; have an accepted paper to the conference program or are participating in another way (workshops, demos); and submit scholarship applications to AAAI by March 15, 2012. In the event that scholarship applications exceed available funds, preference will be given to students who have an accepted technical paper, and then to students who are actively participating in the conference in some way.
As part of the requirements for accepting a grant, students may be asked to assist ICWSM organizers onsite in Dublin for a few hours, June 4-8. A limited number of complimentary technical program registrations will be available for students who are asked to volunteer during the conference.
ICWSM and AAAI are also pleased to announce the continuation of the Google Eastern European Travel Grant program aimed at encouraging more academics and research students from Eastern Europe to present papers at major international conferences. Preference for these three grants at ICWSM will be given in the following order: authors of award papers, authors of full papers (PhD students then academics), authors of poster, demo, or workshop papers, and, and finally PhD students. Eligible countries include Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Republic of Macedonia, Russian Federation, and Ukraine. Applicants should write "Google" in the upper right-hand corner of the application if they are eligible for these funds.
To apply for the ICWSM-12 Student Grant Program, please complete the application below, and return it to AAAI no later than March 15, 2012. Notifications will be sent by April 15, and grants will be issued upon receipt of expense report and receipts.
